Rossaveal Harbour is 23 kilometres from Galway City centre in the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht. The name in Irish is Ros an Mhíl which means the peninsula of the whale or sea monster. Rossaveal is the main ferry port serving the Aran Islands of Inis Mór, Inis Meáin and Inis Óirr.
