A Kerry Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Point
Slea Head
Slea Head is a headland on the westernmost part of the Dingle Peninsula. It’s views of the nearby Blasket Islands are panoramic. A great day out is to travel the Slea Head Drive which is a 30 kilometre loop. Starting from Dingle travel clockwise taking in Ventry, the pre-historic huts at the Gallarus Oratory, beautiful Counmeenoole Beach (dangerous currents though) and perhaps the Blasket Visitor Center in Dunquin.
Around every turn there are breath-taking views encouraging you to stop a while. Though the route is short enough you should give at least a half day to travel it and more if possible to allow the driver to enjoy the day also as he/she will be concentrating on the road. An alternative is to take a bus tour of Slea Head with a knowledgeable driver or guide to point out the highlights.
