Mayo Discovery Points & Ferry Crossings
A Mayo Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Point
Inishkea South is an island accessible by boat from Blacksod Harbour during the summer months from June to August, weather permitting. The trip takes approximately 35 minutes. The island and it’s neigbour Inishkea North are now uninhabited. The names of the islands ‘Inishkea’ means Goose Island in Gaelic and sure enough they are home to many geese including Barnacle Geese.
